Who Are Uckfield Lions?
Uckfield
& District Lions Club is part of the worlds largest Service
Organisation, Lions International. We currently have over 30 members
serving the community in and around Uckfield.
Uckfield & District Lions Club is in Zone B of Region 2 within the SE District of the 105 Multiple District area of Lions International. Sounds confusing but it is the way that Lions International group clubs together geographically for administration. Each District is responsible for ensuring large numbers of clubs can share information and work together over larger areas, our district covers Sussex, Kent, Surrey and South London.
Please
visit our District
web site and the Multiple
District web site for more information about our wider
area and the Lions
International web site for more information about our
worldwide organisation.
Within
the Lions family we have both male and female members of all
ages. For the younger people, upto their mid twenties, there
are Leo clubs. Each Leo club is associated with a Lions club
who help and mentor the Leos as needed, you can find out more
from the Leo
Clubs web site.
There are also some mainly female Lioness clubs which have their own administration structure within the Lions family, you can find out more on the Lioness web site.
There are also two videos on YouTube that explain more about What Lions are.
When Do We Meet?
Uckfield
& District Lions meet formally on the 2nd Wednesday of
each month for a Business meeting at 8pm at The Alma Arms, Framfield Road, Uckfield.
Fund
Raising and Service committee meetings are also held on a
monthly basis. Dates and venues vary so please contact
the Club for more information.
A
social event is held each
month, these events vary and venues depend on the activity we are doing.
Again please check by contacting the
Club for more information.
Can I Join?
Membership
of Uckfield & District Lions Club is by invitation only
following attendance at a number of meetings and other events.
This is not to put people off joining but to give the Club
and any prospective members sufficent time to get to know
each other and to fully understand what it means to be a Lion.
