Using the Money

The money raised by the various fund raising activities arranged by the Finance Committee is distributed, upon recomendation to the membership of Uckfield & District Lions Club, by the Service Committee. The Service Committee meet once a month to discuss any appeals receieved and to propose and progress any service projects.
The following are examples of how the money is used:

- Community Mini Bus - To provide funds to subsidise the hire charge and provision for a replacement in the future.
- Senior Citizens Christmas Party - Each year approx. 120 people are taken to Nutley for refreshments and entertainment.
- Sunday Runs - Weekly on a Sunday, throughout the summer months, various groups of Senior Citizens are taken out for a drive in the mini bus with a stop for a cream tea.
- Disabled Holidays - Each year we endeavour to find one or two disabled people and their helpers and send them to Norfolk for a holiday arranged by the Lions clubs in Norfolk.
- Diabetes Awareness - Each year we run a Diabetes Screening events in the town to raise the awareness of this potentially serious disease.
- Local Donations - In response to appeals from local people and organisations, either monetary donations or purchase of goods or services are made to help those less fortunate within the local community.
